| And the Winner of the 2009 Design News Golden Mousetrap Award in the Motion Control/Automation Category is... |
|
Omron STI is proud to announce that our UMQ Series Safety Mats have been named a 2009 Design News Golden Mousetrap Award Winner in the Motion Control/Automation category!
UMQ series safety mats feature a patented IP67 quick-disconnect cable connector that promises significant cost savings to the user by reducing inventory requirements, while simplifying installation and replacement of damaged cables. The quick-disconnect feature allows for last minute cable length changes in the field, and since the cable is not attached until the end of the installation process, the potential for cable damage during installation is significantly reduced.
"Design News congratulates the winners and finalists of the 2009 Golden Mousetrap Awards for the great work they've done to develop new and innovative products for design engineers. These products showcase the highly imaginative ways that today's engineers are 'building a better mousetrap,' and we thank them for their contributions," says Karen Field, Editor-in-Chief, Design News.

| Developing Your Safety Culture |
|
"Anyone can write a safety program, but it takes a real commitment on the behalf of everyone involved to create and implement a complete safety culture," says Donna Pearson Chadwick.
According to Chadwick, a safety culture creates an environment in which every worker is personally committed to his or her own safety as well as each colleague's safety. A real safety culture is a complete change in attitude that becomes part of the individual's lifestyle and daily habits, whether at home or at work.
Does your company foster a culture of safety? If not, how can it start?
Learn more in Chadwick's article entitled, Developing Your Culture, published in the April 2009 issue of Occupational Health & Safety magazine.

| For a Limited Time Only, Big Savings on Omron STI Machine Safeguarding Assessments |
|
Omron Scientific Technologies, Inc. is cutting by 50%, the cost of any machine safeguarding assessment order placed in October or November, 2009. Additionally, if an order for the implementation of corrective action (based on the assessment) is placed in November or December, 2009, Omron STI will credit the remaining 50% of the assessment price, resulting in a completely free assessment.
A documented assessment helps create priorities for safeguarding, while taking into account measures that are currently working. This helps target funds where the most benefit will be realized while also planning for future upgrades. The assessment document can also be used to ensure machines remain in compliance by comparing the existing guarding system with the detailed guarding recommendations and drawings. This allows any deviations to be identified and addressed.
