Makes possible the operation of sensor-driven personal protection equipment across the AS-Interface bus

FREMONT, CA- Scientific Technologies, Inc. introduces the new SB-INT-01 AS-Interface Safety at Work Module. This module is IP67 protected and is equipped with two safety-rated solid-state inputs, making it an ideal solution when interfacing safety light curtains and safety laser scanners onto an AS-I bus. It is also equipped with five status indicators that are valuable visual aids during trouble-shooting, as well as a status display for bus, auxiliary supply and inputs.

When used in combination with an AS-I safety monitor and an STI type 4 light curtain or laser scanner, this AS-I module satisfies the safety requirements as defined by category 4 per EN 945-1, or up to SIL3 according to EN/IEC 61508. It features two inputs for one two-channel ESPE device for Type 4 applications according to EN/IEC 61496-1.
