| Connecting with a good safety integrator shouldn't be left to the luck of the draw. Finding one with the attributes you require can be a daunting process, so we've made it a bit easier. Here are 12 questions to ask your safety integrator - before signing a contract! |
|
#1 - General liability insurance - will your safety integrator provide it? |
|
#2 - Liability (errors & omissions) insurance - will your safety integrator provide this, too? |
|
#3 - Insurance during integration - will your integrator provide you with an insurance certificate listing your company as being additionally insured for the aforementioned insurance during the safety integration project? |
|
#4 - Risk assessments & plans - will your safety integrator conduct machine safeguarding assessments and create risk reduction plans? |
|
#5 - Compliant with ANSI - will your integrator's risk reduction plan be compliant with ANSI standards for risk reduction? |
|
#6 - Control systems & interfaces - will your safety integrator design and install safety related control systems and interfaces (software and hardwired) commensurate with the identified risk level to recognized risk assessment/risk reduction standards such as: ANSI/RIA R15.06-1999 or ANSI B11.TR3? |
|
#7 - Stop time measurements - will stop time measurements be performed and documented on all machines that will be guarded with presence sensing device technology? |
|
#8 - Safe mounting distance calculations - will the integrator provide documented safe mounting distance calculations for each machine guarded with presence sensing device technology? |
|
#9 - Schematics & bill of materials - will your integrator provide you with schematics in CAD and bill of materials (BOM) for all new safety systems? |
|
#10 - Training - will your integrator train your operators and maintenance personnel on the care and uses of the new safety systems? |
|
#11 - Experience - does your integrator have many years of experience at performing safety integration? |
|
#12 - References - does your integrator a list of satisfied safety integration customers? | |
