Safety Controls Engineer
The Safety Controls Engineer is responsible for executing all aspects of the engineering process.

Omron STI safety products and integration services are used to protect workers around machinery, automated equipment and industrial robots in a wide variety of applications and markets, including semiconductor, automotive, medical, electronics manufacturing, packaging and consumer markets.
Responsibilities
The Safety Controls Engineer is responsible for executing all aspects of the engineering process. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform electrical engineering functions to include designing and creating safety circuits and interface controls for safety products (new safety controls will be required to interface to existing machine and process line control systems).
- Redesign of existing control systems in order to incorporate control reliability, new functions, and/or circuits.
- Work with new and existing customers to plan and implement safeguarding strategies and equipment safeguarding product solutions from conception to completion.
- Test, troubleshoot, and modify machine control systems as required (on the factory floor)
- Responsible for control reliability as defined by OSHA, ANSI, RIA, and applicable machine & process safety standards.
Skills, Background & Experience
- Has worked in a manufacturing environment with responsibilities in engineering electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls and circuitry.
- Experience with control reliability and other applicable machine & process safety standards (OSHA, ANSI, RIA, etc.)
- The ideal candidate would be responsible for working with additional professionals in engineering, manufacturing, sales, and field installers.
- Computer skills with knowledge of all MS Office applications, PLC programming, HMI Development Software, and AutoCAD platforms.
- Strong experience of electrical and mechanical concepts with the ability to read and understand both electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings.
- Strong background in working with safeguarding products and/or the application of electrical products on automation equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Requires 5 to 8 years experience in machine electrical design, safety control design, and/or engineering management.
Requirements
- Ability to travel for projects (50% or more travel requirement).
- Engineering or Technical Degree (preferred ? not required).
- Possess certifications such as E H & S Certificates, OSHA training class, etc/ (preferred but not required).
- Clean driving record and current driver?s license.
- Ability to work from a home office.
