There is a great need to create a safeguard for rail bound production equipment on our nation's railroads. Something that will help warn operators when they are getting to close to the machine in front of them and perhaps even shut the machine down to prevent a collision.
Omron STI Answer: There are a number of technologies currently available for collision avoidance in industry. It may be possible to apply one or more of these technologies to this application; however, it is often a challenge to take a proven technology that operates within the fairly limited environment of a factory floor and translate it for outdoor use where environmental and other variables expand rather significantly. To determine whether an existing technology would be suitable would require a detailed evaluation of the requirements of this application. |
